HELLO all! I hope everyone is having a fantastic week and enjoying the weather. Here in Florida, our weather doesn't change much...which is why they moment it goes from 90 degrees to the low 80s everyone freaks out. It's been lovely having the cooler weather as it only makes me want to snuggle up with a good book. And speaking of a great read, this week I picked up Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Hound of the Baskervilles.
A word about Sherlock Holmes before I continue. If you haven't watched any of the SHERLOCK series on BBC you are missing out! It's wonderful and Benedict Cumberbatch plays Sherlock in a completely different and fresh way. Not that I didn't love Robert Downey Jr.'s rendition of the famous detective. Anyway, the BBC series actually shoots The Hound of the Baskervilles and it made a great supplement while I read the book. And while I'm still on the subject of the TV series, I may as well tell you that I enjoyed the show more than I did the novel.
Please don't kill me. :)
OK. So the novel is about the Baskerville family and how they've got a family curse that haunts them. Yeah, one of those. Basically, a Baskerville from the 1700s attempts to woo but ultimately kidnaps a pretty young lady who manages to escape him. Mr. Baskerville is so enraged that she escaped that he actually runs after her into the dreary English moors and is promptly killed by a hound. This fierce hound resurfaces when he kills yet another Baskerville in present day.
This sets up Mr. Holmes and the faithful Watson to solve the mystery; which, of course, they do.
So for this week I went with watercolor, let me know what you think and thanks for reading!
See you all next week!
